Why Pucallpa? The Village of Limongema
The Village of Limongema
When deciding where the location of the Ayahuasca Spiritual Healing Center would be, there was a lot of thought and careful consideration over years of planning and slow execution that took place. Wiler is proud to have manifested his dream of building his own centre, in the village where he lives in Pucallpa where he will be surrounded by friends, family and his community all the while bringing healing to the rest of the world. The village of Limongema houses 45 families and a total of 208 people ion the community, all of whom are Shipibio natives, who although have started to adapt to western society, truly maintain their traditional way of living.
Pucallpa is where the best medicine in the Amazon comes from and most healers (or curanderos) live in this area. The touristic boom of Iquitos meant that all the healers would transport their home-made Ayahuasca by plane or by boat to the touristic centers of Iquitos and the centers in which they work. It was Wiler’s dream which is now a reality that he keeps the medicine where it was “born” so to speak and bring the people to be healed right at the source. Wiler maintains an Ayahuasca plantation right at the center and his most important factor in considering where to build his center was to ensure that he would be able to maintain the Ayahuasca in a loving way so that he can grow strong, beautiful and potent medicine for healing. Wiler provides his medicine to several centers around the world and so he is now so proud to welcome pasajeros from far and wide to the source of the healing.
Over the last years, Wiler slowly started building the center that he now calls his own, first with a maloka, then a bathroom, then a couple of tambo’s and slowly but surely the center started to take shape. This was not an overnight success and required years of planning, saving and partnering with donors to make his dream a reality.
The dream is to bring tourism and healing to a community that has otherwise been forgotten and to help them thrive while doing the greatest amount of good in the world and for the world. Wiler loves the idea of passing on his traditions and the traditions of his fellow Shipibo villagers to pasajeros; be it by showing traditional forms of tapestry, healing, crafts or anything else that makes their simplified, traditional and communal way of life so incredible and extraordinary.
